Within the Department of Medicine at UCSD, the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) focuses on conducting innovative global public health research, medical and academic training, and evidence-based intervention development and evaluation of programs related to gender inequities, gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health (adolescent and unintended pregnancy, family planning, HIV/STI, healthy birth spacing). The team of social science and epidemiology researchers assembled by GEH includes leading figures in measurement and rigorous evaluation of sustainable programs working with girls, young women, their male partners and their families to understand and change gender-based behaviors and social norms that compromise health and safety. GEH currently has ongoing research in South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and the United States. This research is supported by a diverse portfolio of public and private funders, conducted in conjunction with international NGOs, and includes engagement with local and national governments. Under general supervision, the Project Communications Specialist will provide editing and communications support for the Agency for All team. Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring clarity, organization, accuracy, style, and quality of written work across multiple contributing authors. Additionally, the incumbent will format and design reports, briefs, newsletters, social media posts, and manuscripts according to a program template and aligning with funding requirements. They will also support dissemination of these materials through various platforms, including the project website and social media accounts. The incumbent may also support webinars and other types of virtual and in -person events, for examples via the development/design of invitations, agendas, slide presentations and meeting logistics. They will also support the communications team in work planning, tracking, reporting and other functions. Audiences for this project include internal and external audiences and as well as printed and online materials. Incumbent is expected to make recommendations regarding content and layout, edits, and coordination of production, through collaboration with supervisor. Finally, the incumbent will work with team members to build their capacity to follow project guidelines to produce high quality communications products in a timely manner. Independently oversees a comprehensive communications program for a unit or school with moderately complex communications requirements. The communications program usually includes written, visual, digital and electronic communications. Works with management to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategy. Designs and implements information campaigns. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 - $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 - $59.53 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). |
