Position Summary

The Senior Director, Neurology Marketing and Launch Lead, gMG will be responsible for planning and executing the launch of UPLIZNA in Generalized Myasthenia Gravis ("gMG") in the United strategy. gMG is a rare, chronic, autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that can cause extreme fatigue and muscle weakness, impacting a person's ability to engage in everyday activities. This individual will also lead HCP and medical marketing activities for UPLIZNA in NMOSD. The role includes leading the cross-functional launch team and partnering with Horizon's international organization to ensure global alignment. Role will involve significant cross-functional collaboration and exposure to senior leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead execution of the integrated U.S. launch plan for UPLIZNA in gMG, including all aspects of launch readiness to ensure attainment of business objectives
  • Lead the UPLIZNA gMG cross-functional launch team, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners including Medical Affairs, International, Marketing, Market Research, Market Access, Consumer Marketing, Commercial Development, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, Patient Services, Patient Advocacy, Training, Trade, etc.
  • Serve as U.S. commercial lead for launch planning
  • Drive effective project management, including timely execution of cross-functional workstream, and ensuring deliverables are on-time, aligned to strategy, and on-budget
  • Develop and manage the U.S. commercial launch budget
  • Prepare and deliver regular launch readiness reports to senior management and executive leadership teams
  • Build, lead and develop the U.S. neurology marketing team for UPLIZNA in gMG and neuromyeltis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), including professional marketing & medical marketing, which will co-create core positioning, messaging, and materials in partnership with Horizon's international commercial organization
  • Lead Neurology team participation in annual strategic planning process
  • Develop subject matter expertise in the gMG and NMOSD disease areas, including disease pathology, patient journey and treatment landscape
  • Develop the U.S. go-to-market strategy in gMG in partnership with Field Sales, Field Medical Affairs, Field Marketing, Patient Services, Site of Care, and Commercial Operations
  • Contribute to the forecasting process to ensure that the commercial forecast accurately reflects key insights on market structure, patient journey, HCP preferences, etc.
  • Maintain close alignment with existing UPLIZNA brand messaging and positioning by collaborating with
  • Ensure that all launch activities are informed by customer insights gained from analytics, market research, KOL advisory activities, and field insights
  • Provide strategic input on future organization development to meet customer needs and business objectives
  • Build a culture of collaboration, transparency, and patient-centricity within the Neurology team


Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA (or equivalent, e.g., PharmD) preferred
  • 15+ years' experience in commercial roles in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in pharmaceutical product launch planning and execution strongly preferred
  • Experience in rare disease strongly preferred
  • Experience with neurology, especially neuromuscular disease and/or neuroimmunology, preferred
  • Experience working with infusion care providers and distribution process preferred
  • Experience working with multiple projects and managing multiple external vendors
  • Requires approximately 25% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments.
  • Must have strong planning, project management, communication, and organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams as well as direct reports
  • Understanding of the principles of brand management, including brand positioning, messaging & overall campaign execution
  • Team orientation a must
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional communications skills and professional, proactive demeanor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
