The Salvation Army Northwoods Camp is hiring a Head Lifeguard. Position Summary The Head Lifeguard is responsible for the supervision and oversight of all water-based activities at the pool and lake. The Head Lifeguard is also responsible for leading a team of lifeguards. The Head Lifeguard will reside on-site at The Salvation Army Northern Division Northwoods Camp in Finlayson, MN for the duration of their temporary employment during summer camp. $500-600 stipend 60402 Elbow Lake Rd, Finlayson, MN 55735 Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
- Manage the supervision of participants during water-based activities to ensure safety. (30%)
- Lead routine inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of swimming areas and equipment. (20%)
- Support and actively participate in all assigned camp programs and activities. (20%)
- Observe campers and program areas, reporting and responding to health and safety concerns immediately. (15%)
- Support campers in following rules and expectations when participating in water-based activities, providing guidance and positive reinforcement. (10%)
- Attend spiritual activities. (5%)
Education and Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization required.
- Current waterfront lifeguard certification from a recognized organization preferred.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be willing to participate in religious activities.
- Must pass background checks.

Working Conditions
- Must be able to attend staff orientation week.
- Room and Board provided in addition to biweekly stipend. Required to live on-site at Northwoods camp during the summer.
- Position is seasonal, approximately mid-June through August, includes nights and weekends.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, swimming, and lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to fully participate in activities and events (outdoors and indoors).
- Camp environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English and work in person.
