Family Advancement Specialist
Job Summary
Responsible for providing coaching, guidance, education, and other program-related assistance to clients enrolled in Family Advancement programs such as English as a Second Language. Develop recruitment and enrollment plans, assist participants in setting goals and overcoming obstacles to success, provide coaching, and facilitate peer support and connection to community resources. Responsible for the individual as well as shared team goals. Sets precedent within limits and administers operating rules and procedures under management guidance. Performs intermediate troubleshooting or analysis; problems require interpretation of data using generally prescribed procedures. Frequent interaction to provide basic information and/or occasional interaction requiring detailed procedural explanations or technical responses.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions


  • Build rapport with participants, assist with setting and monitoring English language learning goals, provide feedback and guidance, and support the development of academic and soft skills.
  • Develop and deliver soft skills training and opportunities to practice English in group settings that also build social capital amongst participants.
  • Design, plan and implement recruitment strategies to best identify and enroll prospective participants to meet programmatic enrollment goals.
  • Work directly with Family Support Specialists to make referrals, follow-up, and best support participant needs.
  • Review participant attendance and retention data and make recommendations to support participants and meet programmatic goals.
  • Design, plan, and facilitate participant onboarding experience.
  • Collect, data enter, and review participant records in required program data systems.
  • Review monthly reports to ensure data compliance, accuracy, and timeliness of data entry are being met.
  • Collaborate with ESL instructors, partners (internal and external), and leadership to monitor academic progress and partner experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.



Required Education/Experience


  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience in human services, adult education, program administration, or related field
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish; or English/Zomi/Burmese
  • 3-5 years of prerequisite-related work experience



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Experience and expertise in coaching, teaching, or tutoring adult learners.
  • Experience delivering presentations or training in a variety of in-person and virtual settings.
  • Must have proven successful interpersonal skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with the team, other staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
  • Must have proven experience working with and advocating for the needs of diverse populations.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with the ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines.
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work well under pressure in a team setting.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of susceptible data, records, files, conversations, etc. Intermediate-Advanced MS Office and database skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills, and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.



Essential Physical & Mental Requirements
The employee is subject to standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying objects throughout daily job performance. Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds. Will be required to travel in Tulsa County. Exposure to all weather conditions and regular traffic hazards. Driving is required frequently.
