POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to manage a construction crew responsible for the installation, replacement, and repair of public water, sewer, electric, and stormwater management systems, usually requiring subsurface (below grade) construction. Crews typically consist of a Foreman and Equipment Operators, as well as Skilled and Unskilled Laborers.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: * Plan, manage and evaluate work of crew as assigned * Interpret plans/drawings and determine the best course of action * Oversee the ordering and utilization of materials, choose quantities, and schedule delivery * Collaborate with other Divisions/Crews to ensure efficient installation and adherence to schedule * Complete and submit daily work log including crew hours and job charge codes * Document job progress and extra work needed for completion * Responsible for safety and OSHA requirements on the job COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS * Ability to coordinate with other Divisions on multiple project phases * Materials management skills * MDE Erosion and Sediment Control Certification (MDE Green Card) * Adult CPR and Standard First Aid Certification * OSHA 10 Certification * Supervisory skills * Ability to verify specifications * Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures for utility crews * Laser Alignment Skills * Completion of Trenching and Confined Space safety course PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS: Eight years excavating, utility, or other applicable experience, Four of which specifically are specifically in utilities or related construction area The following physical demands are representative of those that the Construction Foreman must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully: * The ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction * Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus * Performing this job requires hand-eye coordination and the ability to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl * Occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. * The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud |
