NOTE THAT THIS IS A MADISON BASED POSITION ORGANIZATION & DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The mission of the Urban League of Greater Madison is to ensure that African Americans and other community members are educated, employed and empowered to live well, advance professionally and contribute to the common good in the 21st Century. This position is part of the ULGM's Workforce Services Team. The ULGM's Workforce Services include an array of job training, placement, and coaching services designed to help unemployed and under-employed adults with employment barriers prepare for, secure, and retain jobs - particularly career pathway, family supporting jobs. RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST POSITION SUMMARY The Recruitment Specialist will plan and implement recruitment activities for the Urban League's adult employment and training program. The Recruitment Specialist serves as the primary connection between job seekers in the community and ULGM's employment and training programs. This position is responsible for recruiting underserved populations into our programs, including but not limited to: unemployed and under-employed persons of color particularly: African Americans; parents of low-income children; young adults ages 18 to 24; and adults enrolled in FoodShare and other public assistance programs. SPECIAL FOCUS AREA: This position will allocate approximately 50% of its time to recruitment of job seekers in and around the new Southwest Madison Employment Center. A. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS The Recruitment & Triage Specialist will be an energetic, organized, pleasant, reliable, goal-oriented, team player with good decision making abilities and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Education: A Bachelor's degree OR two years of paid experience in an HR recruitment, communications, workforce development or related role which demonstrates ability to perform the duties as described above. Knowledge of: Strategies for marketing and outreach to under-served populations, particularly economically disadvantaged adults; the public and private social service system and other community resources that can be a pipeline of job seekers to ULGM programs; social media including Facebook; needs of low-income populations; basic Internet usage; standard Microsoft and other office software applications. Skill and Ability to: Effectively represent the Urban League's mission and values and meet the needs of communities of color and low-income individuals; be innovative and entrepreneurial; market and represent the Urban League to job seekers; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including low-income job seekers, human service professionals, and business professionals; plan and make presentations to small groups; assess the interests and aptitudes of job seekers; maintain confidential information; plan work in advance and execute those plans; work both independently and as part of team; be accountable to meet goals and timelines; adapt quickly to change; operate a variety of office equipment; use Windows and Microsoft Office to prepare documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, and maintain various databases.
