Are you seeking a position with autonomy, significant responsibility, and a career broadening hands-on experience Do you want an opportunity to be part of the construction of VIRGINIA Class submarines and the next generation of ballistic missile submarines, the COLUMBIA Class The Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO) Program is seeking Field Engineers for the Electric Boat location in Groton, CT. The amount of construction work in progress currently is energizing and you have the opportunity to be part of building submarines that will be in operation for the next 40 years! RPCO engineers operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment and independently exercise authority to ensure that work is conducted in a safe manner. RPCO field engineers are on-site representatives of NNL and BPMI. The selected candidate will provide engineering support and independent oversight of work associated with installation, testing, and modification of reactor plant systems, components, and safety systems. RPCO engineers are engaged during nuclear work and operations and are expected to influence and provide feedback to on-site management and partner organizations. This position involves direct interaction with Navy personnel, shipyard engineering, local government representatives, and partner organizations at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory and Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. Successful completion of a job-specific Joint Test Group qualification is required for this position. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously NPE qualified; or CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE. Pay Range
$82,400 - $128,800 annually Note the salary information provided above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
