The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a HVAC Technician, Fort Lyon to independently perform a variety of skilled HVAC maintenance duties involving preventive maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repairs for Fort Lyon property's HVAC systems and equipment. This position is located at 30999 CR 15, Las Animas, Colorado 81050 and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Job Functions



  1. Inspects HVAC-R systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, freezers, coolers, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
  2. Performs routine and preventive maintenance as needed for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC-R systems.
  3. Responds to emergency situation during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  4. Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of proving enhances and/or upgrade capabilities.
  5. Coordinates with assigned foreman/and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  6. Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in heating/are conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment an/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  7. Fabricates equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.
  8. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
  9. Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  10. Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc) for the purpose of documenting activities and /or conveying information.
  11. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of times required to complete the necessary installation and /or repair.
  12. Reports unusual and/or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property and/or individuals on site to the Maintenance Manager.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Summary



  1. License and certification in HVAC field preferred.
  2. Experience with facilities HVAC systems such as chillers, freezers, coolers, and air conditioning required.
  3. Experience in HVAC maintenance and other services required.
