Histotechnologist Pathology - Dermatopathology Full Time 75565BR Job Summary Under general direction the Histotechnologist I prepares tissue specimens for examination by a pathologist. Incumbent is required to fix, embed, cut skin tissue and apply a wide variety of immunohistochemical stains as well as other special stains ordered by the pathologist. Incumbent prepares solutions, maintains laboratory equipment and keeps detailed records of work processed. The incumbent must perform quality control procedures and evaluate results and must resolve minor technical and equipment problems in the lab. Supports activities required for JCAHO accreditation by assisting in updated lab manuals as needed. Performs the full scope of technical duties in the laboratory as needed. Ensures that equipment is maintained and used properly. Assists in monitoring the lab antibody database to be sure that reagents are current. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
