Database Administrator, Senior

The Opportunity:

Your combination of people skills and technical expertise makes you the team hero, solving one problem after another. As an Oracle database administrator, you know how to manage and secure database technology. At Booz Allen, you can use those skills to improve the database technology supporting our nation's Veterans.On our team, you'll be responsible for implementing and maintaining multiple complex databases.

Analyze the design, development, and delivery or implementation of data solutions, including architecture design, prototyping of concepts to proof of concept, analysis of the development of standards, design, and test plans, code, module design development and testing, data solution debugging, design and implementation of a solution that follows efficient design techniques, and development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the data solution. Assist with the planning and engineering of the organization's databases. Monitor performance, scalability, and security and evaluate existing database design to determine the necessary updates and integration requirements of a new design and to ensure final solutions meet organizational needs. You'll provide your client with peace of mind as you implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the database. You'll use technology and tools like Amazon DMS, Confluent Kafka, and Oracle OEM to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical database. With your technical expertise, mentoring, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we'll focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers. You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience with PL or SQL development

  • 2+ years of experience with working in an agile software development environment

  • Experience with Cloud-native solutions, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Relational Database Service (RDS), Database Migration Service (DMS), S3, CloudWatch, Cloud Formation Templates, and DynamoDB

  • Experience implementing and leveraging monitoring tools such as Grafana and AppDynamics to troubleshoot complex issue

  • Knowledge of Oracle database administration and OEM

  • Ability to design and develop complex SQL queries and reports to retrieve required data

  • Ability to provide code review on SQL change sets and work with developers to create and enforce best practices

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Liquibase source control tools

  • Experience developing and maintaining data streams with Confluent Kafka including administration and troubleshooting with Apache Kafka Cluster Visualization (AKHQ)

  • Experience with Postgres

  • Experience with Big Data analytics platforms, including Hadoop

  • Experience with Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) administration

  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, including creating disaster recovery plans for the environment, helping to document procedures, and planning and testing recovery procedures in a remote backup environment

  • Ability to develop solutions or write software to analyze large data sets to identify places to improve performance and detect system performance changes

  • Bachelor's degree in CS

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $81,800.00 to $186,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
