Salary Range: $18.00/hour.

Hours: Temporary Position, non-exempt.

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.; Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Essential Functions

This temporary, non-benefits eligible position has a start date of Monday, 6/10/2024 and an anticipated ending date of Thursday, 07/11/2024.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PROGRAM ASSISTANT MENTOR:
  1. Be available to work a full seven and a half hour workday, Monday through Thursday, and two and a half hour workday on Friday.
  2. Report to class and other assigned duties on time.
  3. Attend all required professional development days prior to program start date.
  4. Assist in teaching one integrated STEM course in person Monday - Thursday at your assigned campus.
  5. Deliver career awareness seminar every Friday virtually for 2 hours. Instructional materials will be provided.
  6. Be available at least one hour per day for one-on-one tutoring.
  7. Organize and/or develop special project days for students in conjunction with your instructor, if applicable.
  8. Attend all staff meetings.
  9. Assist instructor in preparation of supplies for each class.
  10. Be receptive to other responsibilities, as requested by your instructor and/or Site Coordinator and assist with general program needs, as requested.
  11. Monitor and mentor a group of approximately 25 students with the following specific duties:

Required Qualifications
  • Some college with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Commitment and interest in assisting middle and high school students in their academic and personal growth.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with adolescents.
  • Completion of Calculus I and other advanced mathematics courses.
  • Participation in a STEM club or team at the high school and/or collegiate level.
  • Coursework in STEM education.
  • Preference is given to college science, mathematics, computer science, engineering, STEM Education, or technology majors; previous PREP participants.

Working Conditions

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
