The Opportunity with Viridis

We are adding an Infrastructure as a Service Project Director - Solutions Architect to our high-powered development team. This person will work alongside principal market leaders, infrastructure developers, engineers and financiers to envision the future state of our clients' infrastructure, facilities, and operations, rethink what's possible and help craft custom tailored solutions that drive exceptional value. Responsibilities of the role include:

Ideating and Optimizing Client Solutions



  • Responsible for EaaS/P3 deal structuring, synthesizing project finance, contract documents, technical analysis, federal policy, state policy, utility policy into a sellable solution.
  • Applicable potential scopes of work and solutions to be presented may include but are not limited to: CHP and Biomass, EV and Electric Fleet installations, Waste Recapture, Throughput Process Optimization, PLC modifications for efficiencies, MEP infrastructure upgrades, Microgrid Solutions (BESS, PV, On Site, Generation/Renewables), and any other Building / Built Environment Sustainability or Efficiency Infrastructure Upgrades.
  • Accountable for developing high quality and creative scope bundling, scope sequencing, in partnership with Principal Seller to achieve secured order results.
  • Work with clients, McKinstry leadership and project specific-development staff to develop technical, high value solutions that solve our clients' needs.
  • Oversee and coordinate pre-development activities across multiple teams and organizations.
  • Facilitate client-facing meetings in partnership with Principal Market Leaders, to establish client needs and identify potential portfolio opportunities.
  • In partnership with the greater Viridis Initiative/McKinstry team, collaboratively build unique solution sets to address critical client needs and create offering packages that are financeable within each customer's capital requirements.
  • Be a source for directionally accurate, on-the-fly ROM pricing discussions with clients, that enable the team to move quickly, vet potential solutions, and land on offering sets that will benefit the client and support the budget.
  • Lead and manage the development of technical and economic business cases and eventual full project plans for as-a-service deals that include internal and external resources.
  • Manage risk in the development of as-a-service deals, flagging areas of concern and escalating as appropriate.


Cultivating Partnerships and Market Knowledge



  • Be Viridis Initiative's subject matter expert on all McKinstry (including affiliated business) offerings (Renewables, EV Charging, Technical Services, Engineering, EcoDistrict, Edo, Overcast, Design/Build, ESCO, Service, etc), and how they can be combined to deliver value to clients. Develop relationships within the greater business to help support these efforts and work with Viridis Initiative Leadership to codify cross-business collaboration practices.
  • Cultivate a network of potential external partners delivering innovative solutions that can be integrated into as-a-service programs for our clients.
  • Partner with Viridis Initiative's Principal Market Leaders to understand industry, client, and competitor trends.
  • Keep abreast of federal, state, and local programs, regulations, and funding that may apply to our clients' energy infrastructure portfolios.
  • Participate in business and community activities as a representative of Viridis Initiative.


What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry



  • Passion for helping create a more sustainable, equitable and affordable built environment.
  • Ability to develop a go to market strategy, technical solution bundle, and preliminary business case analysis customized to a client to move projects into the detailed development phase.
  • Strong understanding of project economics and deal structure financials.
  • Experience in multiple verticals including Healthcare, Manufacturing, Tier 2+ Cities, and Higher Education.
  • Ability to communicate with client's "C-Suite", principal sellers, and technical team members seamlessly.
  • A start-up mindset, where getting to wear many different hats sounds like fun.
  • 10+ years of project development experience in an engineering, architectural or other technical capacity.
  • Proven ability to lead a client through a complex buying process with integrated offerings.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse, matrixed team through extensive project development with positive outcomes for the client and business.
  • Ability to travel nationally 30% - 50%.

The pay range for this position is $126,900 - $217,200 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
