Job Description

Becoming a peace officer with CDCR means you are joining a family of dedicated, hardworking men and women responsible for ensuring public safety throughout California. Once you join CDCR, there are many career options you can pursue as a peace officer including Parole, Internal Affairs, Correctional Safety as well as specialized team assignments including Investigative Services Unit, Crisis Response Team, Gang Task Force, and Fugitive Apprehension Team.

Minimum Qualifications

AGE

At least 20 YEARS of age at the time of application and 21 YEARS of age at the time of appointment to the Academy.


EDUCATION

Possession of a high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a U.S. institution or a California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) certificate.

CITIZENSHIP

United States citizenship or legal permanent resident.
