Our Internship Program

Cboe interns work with a variety of staff across multiple departments and have the opportunity to put their skills to work in their field of interest, while learning about Exchange technology and operations through our robust Options Institute courses. The three main foundational pillars of our internship program are: develop, educate and network. We want to ensure each of our interns receive a real-world working experience that encourages academic, professional and personal growth. Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Our internship program runs from June to August.

This role can be based out of one of our state-of-the-art tech offices in Chicago, NYC, or Kansas City on a hybrid model or 100% remote across the US.

Role Overview

This summer program is designed to engage you in day-to-day activities and projects contributing towards our team and corporate goals scheduled to begin in June and last through mid-August 2024. You will also apply what you have learned in the educational offerings to actual business situations. As an intern at Cboe, you will have the unique opportunity to learn about the financial industry through various educational offerings.

The Cyber Detection and Response Engineering Intern position is intended to provide exposure to various functions, security tools, and activities focusing on deployment, maintenance and support of security tools and products. The GDRE Intern will be tasked with a range of responsibilities that provide real-world, hands-on experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR, cloud security products and tools to name a few. You will interact with members of the entire Cyber Security Team along with Network security and Infrastructure teams for the deployment and support of the security tools and products.

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate or master's student with strong technology emphasis, majoring in Information Security, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience related to these fields.

The candidate should have good understanding of:

  • Basic security concepts
  • Basic knowledge and workflow of any major SIEM
  • Basic knowledge of using syslog and APIs
  • Basic knowledge of Linux commands for troubleshooting and tailing logs for errors
  • Basic knowledge of any ticketing systems /Agile methodology
  • Knowledge of commonly used TCP/UDP ports
  • Basic networking concepts
  • Basic Windows operating system concepts

The candidate should:

  • Have Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a team player, should be self-motivated and quick to grasp security concepts

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn how to onboard new data-sources into SIEM
  • Learn and understand SIEM vendor documentation and follow instructions
  • Assist in proof-of-concept activities for new security tools
  • Take and own responsibility in keeping Project confluence pages up to date
  • Ability to manage priorities and multi-task

As required by the New York City Human Rights Law, Cboe provides a reasonable range of minimum base salary for roles that may be performed in New York City. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, level of experience, etc. For New York City only, the range of pay for this role is $30 - $36/an hour. Additional incentive compensation and benefits may be available.
