The Director has expertise in multiple theatrical areas including production management, technical theatre, front-of-house and patron management, and arts education. The University Theatre is a 460-seat proscenium theatre that hosts approximately 100 performances, lectures, and events annually from a variety of constituencies including the academic departments of Dance, Music, and Theatre, Film, and Digital Production, on-campus units such as the Office of the Chancellor, and off-campus rentals for Inland Empire performing groups. The Director's scope includes the development and implementation of budgets, oversight of all staff and operational activities, and the safe operation of the University Theatre including adherence to campus safety and fire regulations. Additional duties include researching and developing strategies for equipment and facility upgrades, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and collaborating with other production staff across the University to achieve shared goals. This is a hands-on position that requires the Director to leverage their strong background in theatre production to perform tasks such as training students and part-time staff in lighting, audio, rigging, video, and other technical theatre areas, and participate in the running of shows when necessary. The Director supervises two full-time career staff (stagehand and box office manager), and four part-time stagehands, and oversees the hiring and training of 20-30 students annually. The Director of the University Theatre reports to the Production Director for the Performing Arts and collaborates with other members of the performing arts staff and faculty to recommend and implement strategies in pursuit of common objectives.

Please Note: This is an exempt position requiring in-person work on campus in the evenings and on weekends during production periods. Applicants should be highly collaborative, have a deep commitment to delivering client and customer satisfaction, possess at least five years of production management experience, and have excellent leadership skills.
