The basics of this position:

The lifeguard plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and enjoyable aquatic environment for all patrons. The primary focus of this position is to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals using our pool facilities. Duties include enforcing pool rules and regulations, promptly responding to emergencies, screening participants, and collaborating with a team of lifeguards during special events.

What you'll do:



  • Remains alert and uses all senses while guarding.
  • Performs life-saving procedures when necessary, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Reports potentially dangerous elements to Facilities Supervisor/Health and Wellness/Athletics.
  • Communicates and enforces all pool rules and regulations.
  • Screens participants regarding pre-participation showers.
  • Sets up the pool for various activities, laps, classes, etc.
  • Works as part of a team with other lifeguards during special events.
  • Assists instructor(s) with class upon request.
  • Attends all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.


Education, experience, and other requirements:

* Lifeguard Certification
* First Aid Certification
* CPR and AED Certification or Basic Life Saving Certification from a nationally recognized organization.
* Applicants will be required to pass a pre-skills test prior to official hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must be physically fit and a good swimmer; have excellent observation skills; have the ability to act calmly and quickly in emergency situations; must be able to stand for long periods of time in excess of 1 hour; must have the ability to lift or carry in excess of 50 lbs.; must be able to walk, bend, stoop, crawl or climb.
