Responsibilities

  • Manages the instrumentation, scopes and equipment within the service line with a focus on high level disinfection as well as sterility and best practices.
  • Prepares the Endoscopy Suite before each procedure according to departmental policies. Responsible for the daily organization of instrumentation and scopes required for their services, including equipment that may be on loan, trial or consignment
  • Passes instruments, scopes, equipment to the physician using proper technique.
  • Assists with ordering and procurement of special service equipment and supplies, in a timely manner to ensure proper high level disinfection and/or sterilization.
  • Cleans and processes scopes and equipment through either a high level disinfection or sterilization method in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Assists in planning educational activities and staff development programs. Reports any performance issues immediately to the Endoscopy Clinical Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Surgical Technician, Gastroenterology Technician, or LPN highly preferred.
  • May consider a candidate with prior CNA, MA, or similar healthcare experience or background.
  • Certified GI Technician preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge and skill of the function and handling of supportive/adaptive patient equipment and devices
