Position: Intern - Communications

Department: Communications

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Director - Communications CLTFC

Status: Intern/Full-Time (Non-exempt)

Duration: Temporary - Runs through the end of the 2024 Charlotte FC season, to include potential playoffs.

Position Summary

Charlotte FC is actively seeking a Communications Intern to support the Communications department in all efforts to relay information to fans, the media, partners, and employees.

Primary Responsibilities



  • Work across the communications team to help present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or brand.
  • Support day-to-day operations of communications team across business, community and sporting related assignments.
  • Curate internal assets (photos, video, and sound) for syndication to media outlets on a daily basis.
  • Help maintain up-to-date media database and develop new media leads.
  • Ideate and pitch creative storylines across the different verticals of Charlotte FC.
  • Serve in multiple roles as part of the communications team's Game Day staff.
  • Monitor social media for coverage and conversation surrounding Charlotte FC.
  • Assist in creation of game notes packets, match recaps, syndication emails and other press information.
  • Assist in facilitating media availability as assigned at events, trainings and matches.



Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have a valid US Driver's license.
  • Must pass pre-employment screens.


  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook, including the ability to merge documents and manage multi-page spreadsheets.
  • Must be flexible and available to work evenings and/or weekends, nights and holidays.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Bilingual or multi-lingual skills.
  • Experience working in the soccer, sports, and/or entertainment industry.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position operates in a professional office environment and outside in a stadium facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Local travel to events may be required. This position typically works approximately 40 hours per week.



  • Must be able to work in all Charlotte FC home matches.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain sitting for up to 8 hours at a desk and computer.
  • Ability to remain standing/walking for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, and endure weather conditions, including rain, wind, high and low temperatures, etc.
  • Must be able to work in non-traditional settings, and work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
