This is a full-time position and the general range is $25-$30/hr. including full benefits (below):

The Facilities Regional Superintendent maintains and repairs equipment, buildings, and physical grounds throughout all the facilities operated by Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana (GCSI) utilizing a combination of both self-performed work and coordination in partnering with external vendors and contractors. This role serves as the Facilities relationship manager and the lead point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Provides onsite leadership for any new site or renovation projects. The Superintendent ensures the work is performed efficiently with high standards of quality, safety, and customer relations.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Travels to off-site Central and Southern Indiana Goodwill locations by company service vehicle to maintain physical locations and properties in a condition consistent with Goodwill initiatives and branding strategy. Locations include retail stores, warehouses, Commercial Services manufacturing, the corporate campus (including the Indianapolis Metropolitan High School and The Excel Center), and the other outlying Excel Centers.

  • Serves as the relationship manager and lead point of contact in resolving facility-related issues at all assigned GCSI sites.

  • Provides onsite leadership and coordination for any new site or large renovation projects with general contractors, subcontractors, Goodwill staff, landlords, and others to guide and oversee project completion and delivery.

  • Coordinates contractors and vendors as needed to complete work at all assigned GCSI Sites.

  • Ensures all work performed by Goodwill staff members, external vendors, and landlords is of the highest quality and meets all state and local municipality requirements and all applicable building codes.

  • Leads facility-related communication to all assigned sites in a way that ensures all internal customers are aware of the status and plan to complete open work orders, meets customer prioritization needs, and delivers the highest ROI for the organization. Communicates with the Manager, Facilities and Systems, site leadership, service contractors, landlords, and others to coordinate facility repair activities.

  • Disassembles mechanical equipment and tools, repairs or replaces worn or broken parts, and reassembles. Adjusts parts of mechanical devices as needed. Inspects completed repairs. Performs preventative maintenance as scheduled.

  • Maintains parts and tool inventory in vehicles. Keeps the maintenance shop organized and supplied.

  • Maintains all training requirements for the position, while seeking out opportunities for continuous development and growth.

  • Cross-trains and assists in other areas to build skill base and value within the department.

Required Competencies

  • Licensure - Possesses approved journeyman's license (certified completion of a 4-year apprentice program) in the electrical carpentry trades.

  • Construction Superintendent Expertise - Leads full lifecycle construction projects by organizing, planning, implementing, and overseeing project tasks. Completes quality inspections and supervises all project members, including staff and sub-contractors to ensure all safety, quality, and customer service standards are met. Is responsible for budgeting supplies, equipment, and labor. Adept at reading and interpreting architectural drawings for construction specifications.

  • Strategic Partner - Works as a strategic partner to comprehend divisional/departmental business challenges and re-frame those challenges through the lens of a creative solution provider. Possess strong reasoning skills and strongly considers alternatives while remaining objective. Skilled at gathering information from a variety of resources to make informed decisions.

  • Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend customer and employee needs.

  • Technical Knowledge - Has solid knowledge of G Suite, MS Office Suite, and the internet. Prior Experience using a CMMS to handle work orders and PM checklist is an additional plus.

  • Information Monitoring/Reporting - Collects and reviews information to manage or improve processes and/or achieve program goals. Completes all assigned reports. Reads, interprets, and follows financial reports to be able to communicate information to others and translate data to other communications.

  • Organizational Aptitude - Plans and attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing multiple tasks in an organized and timely fashion. Exhibits careful attention to detail and follow-through with a focus on managing deadlines.

  • Customer Focus - Has the ability to see, comprehend and relate with customers in an impartial, unbiased yet effective and balanced manner; builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the organization; provides excellent service to internal and external customers. Maintains a professional and positive attitude.

  • Autonomy - Takes initiative without waiting to be directed, does what is asked, and works until the job is completed. Takes ownership of mistakes and learns from them rather than makes excuses.

  • Strong Work Ethic - Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, has a drive to succeed at any task, produces consistent and high-quality work, is organized and timely, and is able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Safety Awareness - Recognizes the risks in activities, applies the right measures to control and manage those risks, and ensures all safety protocols are followed.

Other Requirements

  • Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle. Additionally, will submit to and pass a 10-point drug screen pre-hire, during promotions, and if accidents occur.

  • Hard to Very Hard Physical Work - Is able to spend time in excess of 8 hours standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and crouching. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms. Can climb, balance, talk and hear. Has the ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds. Can manage exposure to loud noises, outside weather conditions, and moving mechanical parts. Will be occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. There is a risk of electrical shock and vibration.

  • Visual Acuity - Has close, distance, peripheral, color vision abilities, and is able to adjust focus.

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
