Job Description Summary
The DPT program at Lewis University seeks to create an available pool of Adjunct Faculty candidates to teach courses in our Department of Physical Therapy beginning in January 2025. Interested individuals are invited to complete a faculty profile, attach a curriculum vitae, and transcripts for consideration. Ideal applicants will have clinical expertise in any of the following areas: acute care, neurologic PT, ortho and sports PT, pediatric PT, geriatric PT, research, cardiovascular and pulmonary PT, Integumentary and Oncologic PT, and other specialties. Rank and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge and proficiency in the academic field.
  • Utilizes effective strategies to foster student involvement and participation in learning.
  • Adheres to program schedules and deadlines in managing course-related tasks.
  • Prepares and presents educational material in a clear, comprehensive manner.
  • Regularly evaluates student progress and provides constructive feedback.
  • Encourages and guides student participation in various educational exercises.
  • Acts as an intermediary between students and the university, ensuring a smooth academic journey.
  • Collects and analyzes student performance data to enhance teaching methods and learning experiences.
  • Fairly evaluates student assignments, exams, and projects.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with the Program Director and Course Coordinators, especially regarding student issues.
  • Ensures uniform content and evaluation standards across different sections of the same course.
  • Conducts annual self-assessments of teaching performance and sets objectives for future growth.
  • Regularly updates course material and aligns it with the institution's course consistency policies.
  • Proactively suggests improvements for future course iterations.
  • Exemplifies professional conduct and fosters an environment of inter-professional dialogue.
  • Works cooperatively with various departments to create a supportive academic environment.
  • Upholds and respects the core values, policies, and procedures of the Program, College and University.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the State of Illinois.
  • Applicant should be proficient with computer technology and possess strong organization skills.

  • Prior college/university teaching experience
