Job Summary

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking professional, dedicated individuals who are interested in a position in law enforcement, specifically as a Patrol Deputy working 42-hours per week.

Loudoun County is one of the fastest growing Counties in the Commonwealth of Virginia and offers a competitive salary and benefits package as well as a relocation bonus for those residing more than 50 roadway miles from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Administrative Building. All selected applicants, who are not currently certified as a Virginia Law Enforcement officer, must successfully complete a Virginia law enforcement academy upon hire.

Additionally, all applicants must complete the department's Field Training Officer program. Loudoun County Sheriff's Office offers numerous specialized positions within the agency upon successful completion of all required training. Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.


This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age; U.S. Citizen; high school diploma or equivalent; must have a current valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications are a college degree, prior law enforcement experience, and/or military experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

The Sheriff's Office provides service to the community 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. All sworn employees must be able to work any and all shifts as assigned.

Selection process includes review of Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, an in-person background interview, physical abilities testing, panel interview, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical physical examination to include drug screening, and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, and driving record check.
