Summary

Capital One's Strategic Investments Group (SIG) connects the Commercial Bank with institutional capital to create synergistic partnerships that expand Capital One's capabilities and make us more relevant to our customers. The SIG team has created numerous partnerships and risk transfer programs - including the ULTra and Titan unitranche joint ventures; first-out, last-out unitranche products; and non-payment insurance programs - representing over $10B of assets. At the heart of SIG's initiatives, the Originations team sources prospective financing opportunities - from both within Capital One and from its investor partners - and creates innovative solutions for our customers by combining the benefits of both bank capabilities and institutional capital.

This role is responsible for the management of large and complex strategic programs with third party investors for Capital One Commercial Bank. This individual will be responsible for coordinating execution of all end-to-end activities of one or more active programs across all functions within Capital One, with external investors and various third parties & vendors.

  • The Strategic Program Originations Team oversees front-end deal prospecting, structuring, and execution for Capital One's Corporate Bank Strategic Investments Group ("SIG").

  • This individual will help maintain strong relationships with Capital One's strategic investors partners and coordinate deal flow activities across the Commercial Bank, with a primary focus on the Healthcare Real Estate and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) platforms.

  • Partners include various formal and informal relationships amongst Capital One and third-party investors, lenders, and asset managers.

  • Along with members of the SIG Originations team, this individual will facilitate the Commercial Bank's interactions with strategic investor partners and facilitate deal screening, structuring, negotiating, closing and portfolio management activities.

  • This individual will draw from prior experiences in relationship management, debt underwriting and capital markets activities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Gain a solid understanding of the legal agreements and joint venture structure

  • Manage deal pipeline activity and reporting across CRE and Healthcare Real Estate and strategic partners

  • Coordinate deal closing and funding activities among Capital One, strategic partners, and third-party administrators.

  • Perform risk rating, returns modeling and scenario analysis

  • Organize diligence information and communications across deal teams and investor partners

  • Coordinate Unitranche approval materials and manage internal credit actions

  • Manage new deal closings and subsequent funding/draw process

  • Lead quarterly portfolio review data collection and presentation materials

  • Work collaboratively across functional partner groups, including program management, operations, finance, tax, legal, and policy

  • Assist in regular training efforts by updating Unitranche training materials and scheduling teach-ins and program update communication

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 5 years' experience in leveraged finance, capital markets, investment banking or commercial banking

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in debt capital markets

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial real estate sector

  • 2+ years of project management experience

  • Cash flow modeling and financial forecasting experience

  • Ability to navigate across a large organization and work with cross-functional teams

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $163,300 - $186,400 for Manager, Strategic Investments Group

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
