Job Description

We Are: The Rehabilitation Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center provides physiatry, physical therapy and occupational therapy to both inpatients and outpatients. We are looking for a unique individual to join our dynamic team of Rehabilitation Assistants. We invite you to apply if you are passionate about working in a collaborative environment to assist with patient care.

Under the supervision of a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist, you will perform specific technical activities essential to patient mobilization along with:

    Work with other Rehabilitation Assistants within the service and assist in patient care as directed by a licensed Occupational or Physical Therapist within Memorial Hospital
  • Take on various housekeeping, clerical, and maintenance tasks critical to operations
  • Escort and assist patients before, during, and after Occupational/Physical Therapy treatment sessions
  • Maintain an adequate level of supplies to meet patient care needs
  • Maintain records per Rehabilitation Service guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area and contribute to the upkeep of the service work area
  • Provide minor maintenance to rehabilitation equipment, monitor equipment for signs of wear and tear, and manage durable medical equipment levels
  • Operate rehabilitation equipment, obtain vital signs, and transfer and guard patients under therapy supervision
  • Manage durable medical equipment, maintain adequate supplies and provide support in service projects

You Have/Are:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED
  • One year minimum experience in direct care responsibility in an acute hospital setting, rehabilitation facility, or nursing home preferred
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge
  • Good organizational skills
  • Mechanically oriented
  • Team oriented

Schedule: Hours vary between 6am-7:30pm, including weekends (subject to change)
