Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-14: To be eligible for this position at this grade level you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Legal, tax accounting, or other experience that required expert knowledge of the Federal tax laws, regulations, court rulings, or other legal authority related to the position to be filled (including corporate issues, tax credits, or penalties); Experience in preparing, reviewing, or applying rulings, advisory letters, memoranda, etc., related to Federal taxation of corporate entities; Experience performing research on complex tax law issues and business practices for their impact on tax compliance. In addition, must have experience analyzing legal issues, legal precedents, and legislative and regulatory processes impacting Federal tax laws in at least one of these areas: Energy and Investment Tax Credits, Method of Accounting and Timing Issues, Penalties, Inventory and Section 263A, Compensation and Benefits, Corporate Income and Losses issues, Corporate Distributions and Adjustments, Capitalization vs. Expenditures and Cost Recovery, or General Business Credits; Experience applying the tax laws and principles to effectively ensure fair compliance with the law; Experience reviewing taxpayers' legal and economic structure, and business practices; Experience formulating positions and preparing written supporting recommendations to management on matters relating to the theories, concepts, principles, and application of Federal tax laws (including corporate issues, tax credits, or penalties); Experience providing specialized technical advice concerning tax planning strategies and emerging issues (including corporate issues, tax credits, or penalties); Experience communicating orally and in writing with stakeholders in accounting, legal, tax, and other similar business-related professions and /or IRS representatives regarding a variety of complex tax issues.
