Essential Functions
Job Summary - Level I
Under close supervision, supports pre-award and post-award services related to proposal preparation and review, and award administration. Supports the financial and administrative management requirements of grant and contract proposals, awards, and transactions to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.
Salary Range: up to $60,000 annually commensurate with experience and skills.
Core Responsibilities - Level I
- Assists with "cradle to grave" institutional support of grants and contracts.
- Administratively reviews, and recommends approval of routine grant or contract proposals, budgets, and award management transactions, and obtains and verifies necessary compliance approvals.
- Reviews terms and conditions of routine grant, contract, and subcontract proposals and awards from various sponsors.
- Reviews and recommends approval or rejection of award management requests and financial transactions within established thresholds.
- Engages and advises principal investigators, unit research administrators, college representatives, and management on proposals/awards terms and conditions.
- Provides interpretation of routine policies and procedures to principal investigators, college representatives, and management.
- Consults senior professionals with unusual or complex issues.
- Demonstrates UTSA core values: Integrity, Excellence, Inclusiveness, Respect, Collaboration and Innovation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications - Level I
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent attained through professional level experience.
- Minimum one year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
- Develops understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research.
- Develops knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
- Develops understanding of OMB circulars/Uniformed Guidance.
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficiency with computer and information management systems, demonstrated expertise in the use of spreadsheets in financial analysis and fiscal management.
- Develops understanding of all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, cooperative agreements.
- Develops understanding of applicable compliance requirements related to the use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflicts of interest, and biosafety.
Job Summary - Level II
Under moderate supervision, provides pre-award and post-award services related proposal preparation, review, approval, and award administration. Uses grant and contract concepts to manage moderate volume and transactions. Supports the financial and administrative management requirements of grant and contract proposals, awards, and transactions to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.
Salary Range: up to $65,000 annually commensurate with experience and skills.
Core Responsibilities - Level II
- Provides "cradle to grave" institutional support of grants and contracts.

- Negotiates terms and conditions of routine grant, contract, and subcontract proposals and awards from various sponsors.

- Engages and advises principal investigators, unit research administrators, college representatives, and management on policies, best practices, and proposals/awards terms and conditions.

Supports the financial and administrative management requirements of grant and contract proposals, awards, and transactions to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.
Salary Range: up to $72,000 annually commensurate with experience and skills.
Core Responsibilities - Level III
- Provides "cradle to grave" institutional support of grants and contracts.
- Utilizes advanced knowledge of processes, policies, and regulations to coordinate and administer multiple programs, and projects.
- Administratively reviews, approves, and submits moderately complex grant or contract proposals, budgets, and awards such as grants/contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators, and multiple sub awards, obtains and verifies necessary compliance approvals. May be eligible for delegated institutional signature authority.
- Negotiates terms and conditions of moderately complex grant, contract, and subcontract proposals and awards from various sponsors.
- Reviews, approves or rejects award management requests and financial transactions.
- Engages and advises principal investigators, unit research administrators, college representatives, and management on policies, best practices, and proposals/awards terms and conditions.
- Provides policy and procedure interpretation to principal investigators, college representatives, and management.
- Maintains professional relationship and serves as an institutional liaison with sponsor representatives.

This position will require working
both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
