The Watts Internship Program is strategically designed to allow you the opportunity to utilize what you have learned in the classroom while gaining a true understanding of the business world by applying those key principles through hands-on experience. During the internship, students will gain exposure to and impact operations. There will be many chances to network with like-minded manufacturing and industrial engineering professionals and stimulate your mind through cross-departmental collaboration.

This is a summer internship for a college student. The role will last approximately 12 weeks over the summer at our Blauvelt, NY facility.

Support the implementation of the Commercial Excellence program for one of the leading manufacturing companies specializing in Commercial Condensing boilers and high efficiency water heating equipment.

Location: Onsite Blauvelt, NY or Fort Worth, TX

You Will:

  • Work with Product and Tech Svc teams on retrieving all technical documents and drawings to be submitted to Vendor for publishing
  • Train on Vendor software application
  • Support Project Manager in the build and testing of content in the application
  • Assist Project team and vendor on workflow design of the application
  • Develop UAT scorecard to be used for measuring accuracy and feedback on system performance prior to implementation
  • Validate with Product and Tech Svc teams on all product lines, chapters, parts pages, parts, and drawings in test system prior to publishing
  • Assist in training sessions for new users of the application before Go-live launch
  • Assist Parts Administrator with ongoing Phase I support: Uploading pictures of new parts, superseding of parts in live system, and KPI reporting needs
  • Work with Commercial and Marketing teams on Cost to Serve transparency that enables balancing customer needs and related costs
  • Support Foundation workshop by drafting presentation decks and breakout materials
  • Gather all relevant transactional data needed for Cost to Serve analysis
  • Standardize data format amongst different brands, product groups, and cost buckets
  • Document cleansing process to support embedding
  • Assist in the reconciliation of cleansed transactional data to P&L
  • Assist in conducting interviews with various stakeholders to define allocation keys for each cost bucket
  • Allocate costs based on agreed allocation keys
  • Build Cost to Serve model for final results on profitability at the customer/product level and other relevant analysis (Vertical, Project Type, Channel)
  • Support final Workshop and review results with cross-functional teams and document all corrective actions to be taken

You Have:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, logic functions, V-lookups)
  • Proficient in PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access is a plus
  • Strong work ethic, passion and commitment
  • Ability to think strategically and drive day to day execution
  • Self-starter with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to work with large data sets

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Candidates must be a current College student pursuing a bachelor's or master's in Marketing or Business preferred.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role performs responsibilities in both a typical business office environment as well as on the manufacturing shop floor. Noise level in the office is moderate e.g., computer, phone, printer, light foot traffic. Office lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no unpleasant conditions such as noise or dust. Shop environment conditions may vary based on location.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Requires both extended focus and quick decision making to analyze and interpret data and solve problems
  • The role will include sitting at a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally involves walking, standing, bending the neck and waist, squatting, twisting at the neck and waist, simple grasping, pushing and pulling, reaching above and below the shoulder level, and lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.

Salary Range: $18 to $22/hour

Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.
