About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director of Congress Management & Association Relations to join the Novartis Meetings, Congresses & Events team. In this role, you will act as a strategic congress lead, ensuring operational excellence through strategic planning, effective communication, efficient supplier management, innovative thinking, exhibit booth planning and onsite execution across multiple therapeutic areas and business functions within the organization. In addition, as an Associate Director, you will manage a team of direct reports and outsourced personnel establishing a streamlined, consistent, and successful planning experience.

Your Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a team of internal associates and outsourced personnel ensuring operational excellence in congress planning through standardized processes with focus on innovation and efficiency.
* In partnership with the Lead, Congress Management and Association Relations, maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external suppliers and associations.
* Cultivate a culture of compliant collaboration, partnership, and shared accountability between the team and our internal and external stakeholders.
* Financial Management of overall Congress budgets.
* Drive collaboration and innovation through cross functional stakeholder engagement.
* Ensure personal and team development in areas of industry trends and best practices and continuous process improvement.

Expected travel: approximately 30% domestic travel.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, with 7+ years applicable and relevant experience in congress management in the fields of Pharma, Medical Device, or Biotechnology
* Experience inspiring change across diverse teams both as an individual contributor and a collaborative leader.
* Understanding of the pharma industry, brand strategy, and the regulatory environment
* Budget and project management skills.
* Motivated self-starter with ability to perform within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, well organized with great attention to detail.
* Strong industry network with existing relationships with healthcare associations
* Strong customer service skills and ability to work well under pressure or when experiencing challenges.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Desirable Requirements:
* Direct management experience leading a team in a matrixed organization.
* Strong working knowledge of cVent.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $158,400-$237,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
