Who is BlueRock?
BlueRock Therapeutics, a wholly-owned and independently operated subsidiary of Bayer AG, is a leading engineered cell therapy company using its unique cell+gene platform to direct cellular differentiation and genetically engineer cells to create a new generation of cellular medicines that address large patient populations suffering from neurological, cardiovascular, and immunology diseases.
The convergence of cell biology and genetic engineering is creating fundamental new ways to impact disease. Founded in 2016 to capitalize on these technological breakthroughs, we are advancing our novel cell+gene platform to develop, manufacture, and deliver an entirely new generation of authentic and engineered cell therapies across three therapeutic areas: neurology, cardiology, and immunology.
What Are We Doing?
Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit.
We are passionate about delivering on the promise of cellular and gene therapy, shaping the future of cellular medicine, and delivering new therapies to millions of patients with treatment options.
We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, thrive in a fun and dynamic culture, and are steadfast in the commitment to advance cutting-edge cellular therapies to impact patients' lives.
BlueRock Therapeutics is seeking a Co-Op in Dopamine Cell Biology, based at our New York City location. The incumbent will be a technical contributor on a team responsible for the generation and characterization of pluripotent stem cell derivatives. They will participate in efforts to maintain and characterize pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) cultures, as well as to leverage PSCs for diverse studies of directed differentiation and maturation of specified cell types. Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture is essential. Experience with human pluripotent stem cells, directed differentiation, cell-based assays, primary cell culture, and/or neurobiology is a plus. The incumbent will work closely with several collaborating teams.

Responsibilities
  • Execute cell culture experiments and cell-based assays to characterize differentiated PSC-derived cell types
  • Analyze, visualize, and document experimental data in electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely and accuratemanner
  • Organize and present scientific data to peers through internal platforms
  • Interact extensively and regularly with fellow team members to complete collaborative projects
  • Accommodate occasional overtime on the weekend and after hours
Qualifications & Requirements
  • B.S. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or related discipline (progress toward M.S. or Ph.D. in a related field is a plus)
  • Knowledge in one (or more) of the following areas: stem cell biology, cell and developmental biology, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, neuroscience/neurobiology
  • Experience with aseptic mammalian cell culture is required
  • Experience with hPSC culture is a plus
  • Experience with cell characterization methods and technologies (e.g., flow cytometry, qPCR, immunoassays, microscopy, molecular biology) is a plus
  • Possess the ability to work a 6-month assignment, full-time from June 2024
  • Must be 18 years of age by the start of the internship.
  • Must have transportation to the site in New York, NY USA.
