Job Summary Information Technology Services (ITS) at the MCCCD is looking for a forward-thinking Director of Information Security. Under the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Director will plan, direct, and implement strategic information technologies and integrated systems across the District. The Director will use a collaborative and shared-resource process to lead Information Security's Center of Excellence (COE) program. Using a combination of internal and external resources, the COE will provide information security expertise and bridge gaps between application knowledge and information security guidelines throughout MCCCD. Essential Functions 35% - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff; approves staff selection, directs training and the disciplinary process; identifies training needs and presents professional growth opportunities; oversees and/or participates in the delivery of staff training and mentoring 20% - Oversees and has responsibility for the strategy and direction of the InfoSec Center of Excellence; assigns ITS and college resources as a matter of urgency and/or planned projects; develops and implements metrics related to COE performance and customer satisfaction, including service level agreements; collaborates with District and college personnel to promote the COE, enhance services, and foster relationships with college IT professionals 20% - Oversees threat assessment activities and the vulnerability management program for the district; continuously researches, recommends, and implements operational best practices and IT directives to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability 10% - Collaborates with internal and external auditors to field audit results, review, respond, and remediate any security control or compliance issues and align with best practices 5% - Participates in incident response-related activities in the event of an incident or security breach; develops, maintains, and updates incident response plans; ensures timely resolution while minimizing damage and communicating updates as appropriate 5% - Acts on behalf of the CISO as requested; attends and participates in local and system-wide meetings, project teams, and task forces; assists the CISO in monitoring the InfoSec budget and expenditures; develops purchase pricing models and makes strategic recommendations to ITS leadership 5% - Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and six (6) years of professional experience in information security, which includes two years of supervisory experience. OR Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and eight (8) years of professional experience in information security, which includes two years of supervisory experience. OR High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years of professional experience in information security, which includes two years of supervisory experience. Desired Qualifications A. Experience managing an information security program and team, preferably in higher education B. Possession of current, relevant information security certifications such as CISSP, CISM/A, Certified Ethical Hacker, GIAC/SANS, etc. C. Experience leading audit response activities D. Experience fostering relationships in a decentralized, geographically dispersed environment E. Working knowledge of governance and compliance frameworks such as FERPA, HIPAA, NIST, PCI-DSS Special Working Conditions At the discretion of the Employer, this position may be reviewed for remote work upon hire.
