Moffatt & Nichol is actively looking for a Construction Support Assistant Project Engineer to join our Honolulu office. As part of the Construction Support Group, this position will provide full time onsite Project Engineer Services for NAVFAC and other local projects. The Assistant Project Engineers will report to and assist the Lead CSPE and support the Quality Assurance (QA) efforts. In general, duties will include but not be limited to: timely construction submittal reviews, routing, and/or tracking; reviewing appropriate materials other than contract documents(test reports, diagrams, product submittals, schedules, etc.) related to key systems (chilled water, ASW, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, elevator, structural, cover, pumps, etc.), provide review of construction daily reports; and manage the Construction Support Assistant Project Engineers and Construction Support Engineers.

  • Responsible for assisting in construction oversight, support efforts involving QA and design related site visits, and attending weekly Construction Quality Control and other meetings, handling, and coordination of: submittal reviews, RFI responses, design changes, assisting in the preparation and delivery of presentations, preparing construction and other project related reports
  • Must provide Quality Control reviews and prepare field reports
  • Must have OSHA Construction and Safety training, EM 385-1-1 Safety Training, Confined Space Safety Training and are subject to other project related safety training

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Required
  • Master's Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management degree, preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in, or combination of; civil engineering design, project management, construction, and/or construction consultation; Required
  • PE in Hawaii or the ability to receive thru reciprocity within 6 months; Required
  • Experience with heavy construction including civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical systems; Required
  • Ability to obtain a DBIDs and CIA pass; Required
  • OSHA Construction and Safety training, EM 385-1-1 Safety Training; Required
  • Training in Confined Space protocols and are subject to other project related safety training; Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; poised and professional
  • Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category preferred
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Due to client requirements, selected candidate must consent to and a pass a post-off/pre-employment drug screening
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$105,000 to $130,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Hawaii markets.

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
