Biostatistician Co-Op

Keros Therapeutics
United States, Massachusetts, Lexington
1050 Waltham Street (Show on map)
February 27, 2024

Keros Therapeutics is a public, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel treatments for patients suffering from hematological and musculoskeletal disorders with high unmet medical need. We are a leader in understanding the role of the transforming growth factor-beta, or TGF-, family of proteins, which are master regulators of red blood cell and platelet production as well as of the growth, repair and maintenance of muscle and bone. We have leveraged this understanding and developed a discovery approach to generate large and small molecules to address diseases of these tissues. Targeting TGF- signaling pathways has been clinically proven to elicit robust changes in blood cells, muscle, and bone, which we believe provides a precedent and strong rationale for our strategy.

Keros Biometrics Department is in search of a highly motivated Biostatistician co-op to join our team. This role is designed for individuals eager to contribute to impactful projects, gaining hands-on experience in the design and analysis of clinical trials. As a co-op, you will collaborate closely with a mentor and experienced colleagues, tackling diverse tasks that directly impact our daily operations.

Highlights:

  • Apply innovative and advanced statistical approaches and conduct clinical trial simulation to real-world problems. For instance, you might investigate treatment effects among heterogeneous populations by employing sophisticated statistical models or implement Bayesian methods to leverage all available information contributing to more informed decision-making.
  • Deliver an impactful presentation summarizing the significant contributions of your work by the end of the internship. This could include presenting key findings from a simulated clinical trial scenario that influenced decision-making processes or showcasing innovative statistical techniques applied to solve specific challenges within ongoing projects.
  • Potentially contribute to a peer-reviewed publication, showcasing your valuable contributions to the scientific community.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Senior Biostatisticians, contributing to ongoing projects.
  • Approach challenges with a can-do attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conduct simulations for late-stage clinical trial designs.
  • Apply innovative data analysis techniques to empower data-driven decision-making.
  • Present updates orally, write reports, and potentially contribute to peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a BS/MS degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding in probability, statistical inference, and experimental design.
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (e.g. SAS, R).
  • Passionate about clinical trial design and data analysis.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
