Job Description:

Position Title: 2024 Guest Services Intern-Fall

Position Type: Paid Intern

Reports to: Guest Services Manager

Crystal Bridges is a museum of American art located in Bentonville, Arkansas. We explore the unfolding story of America by actively collecting, exhibiting, interpreting, and preserving outstanding works that illuminate the American heritage and artistic possibilities.

As an intern at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, you will be empowered to think creatively, ask questions, and make suggestions to help move the institution forward.

Position Summary:

The Guest Services Internship with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is designed to be an opportunity to provide recent graduates a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Guest Services department.

This is the perfect opportunity for an intern UNDECIDED on what career to pursue and is open to learning!

The intern selected for this amazing opportunity will gain the following knowledge:

  • The Importance of cultivating internal and external customer relationships
  • Learn and understand museum stakeholders and stakeholders' impact
  • Learn how to make decisions
  • Schedule tours for visitors
  • Create team member schedules
  • Learn how to create an implement a budget
  • Learn how to strategize goal development guest interaction,
  • Administrative tasks.
  • The intern will work closely with department leadership and staff to provide on-site support to the Guest Services team and museum guests.

Areas of Support:

  • The Guest Services Intern will perform the following duties:
  • Learn and assist the Guest Services Administrative Assistant with scheduling, timecard processing, budgeting, event planning, onboarding, and other duties as assigned.
  • Work closely with Guest Services Shift Leads on associate training and development, rotation building, and goal setting.
  • Assist the Call Center Lead and learn and apply guest inquiries and ticketing requests.
  • Learn the roles of Guest Services Associates and assist guests in lobby spaces.
  • Help set goals and track results for various performance indicators.
  • Attend and participate in departmental and museum meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently in High School
  • Uncertain about future career goals
  • Willingness to explore, ask questions and learn
  • Must be at least 16 years of age

Schedule:

  • Month: August 26, 2024-November 20, 2024
  • Weeks: 13 weeks
  • Hours: Up to 15 hours a week (high school intern); Up to 20 hours a week (undergraduate intern); Up to 25 hours a week (Graduate Intern) Recent graduates may be eligible for 40 hours a week however this is contingent upon the availability of funding.
  • Weekly schedule to be arranged with direct supervisor

Compensation

  • High School Interns: $12.00
  • Undergraduate Interns: $13.00
  • Graduate Interns: $14.00

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Physical demands: In the work environment described below, position requires work at a desk, utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least three feet for file and materials storage as appropriate for the demands of the office. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.
  • Work environment: Work will be performed in an office environment and museum spaces. The noise level in the museum work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • If the intern's personal equipment is used, the museum accepts no liability for any damage caused to said equipment while being used for museum purposes, nor loss or corruption of electronic files on devices.
