Job Description

Electric/Electronics Technician I work in the manufacturing and repair areas performing a variety of technical duties. Processes include the use of computers, soldering irons, diagnostic test equipment to repair electronic devices. The Technician I uses hand tools and test equipment to build or repair electrical products. The Technician I is responsible for output of assigned requirements to meet the needs of the production environment.

Along with the use of manuals, schematics, and/or written work instructions, Technician I workers repair breath alcohol ignition interlock devices (IID). The work includes light troubleshooting of field returned devices. Technician I work is usually done individually or in a team structure and Technician I workers must be able to work well with others as well as be comfortable in a production environment. Technician I workers report to a Production Supervisor.

Experience and Skills

* Modify electrical or electronic equipment or products for repair / diagnostic purposes

* Light troubleshooting of failures in IID's (circuit adjustments, recognition/replacement of defective components)

* Read manufacturing outlines for electronic products

* Read and understand schematics

* Read and understand specifications

* Proficiency in SMT as well as Through-Hole soldering

* Ability to work on multiple device types without assistance (cross training)

* Use hand and power tools

* Use precision measuring tools and precision diagnostic equipment

* Ensure high standards of quality are achieved and maintained on all product types that they are cross trained on

* Ensure data collection accuracy for data analysis

* Follow instruction from Supervisors

* Ability to make appropriate judgement calls when deciding the correct course of action during troubleshooting operations

* Ability to work occasional overtime as determined by production scheduling

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent

* Associates Degree or Equivalent in Electronic Course Track - Preferred

* 2-5 years' experience in Electronic Troubleshooting - Preferred

* Fundamental computer skills for diagnostic testing - Preferred

* IPC A-610 Class I Certification - Preferred

* Ability to work with moderate supervision - Preferred

* Experience soldering circuit boards - Preferred

* Hand soldering experience - Required

* Color Vision (Needed to see colored LED's and wires) - Required
