POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for drying the mixed product to the appropriate powder specifications. Monitor and adjust the dryer controls to ensure efficient production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Dry various products on dryer to meet the necessary dryer production deadlines
  • Control the dryer functions and drying process to ensure that final product is in specification and meets all company and customer standards
  • Complete CIP and COP of product holding tanks, lines, dryer and related equipment to ensure cleanliness as per SOP
  • Adhere to proper sanitation and product safety guidelines throughout the plant by practicing good housekeeping, maintaining quality of products, and preventing contamination of ingredients and finished product
  • Maintain proper documentation of drying processes according to outside agency guidelines as well as SOPs and GMPs
  • Sample product according to SOPs and GMPs to verify quality
  • Perform routine inspections of all dryer-related equipment to ensure that equipment is in top working condition by following proper running procedures, performing low-end maintenance, and reporting equipment and safety issues to the maintenance department
  • Collaborate with all employees on performance and continuous improvement of daily operations as well as trial runs of new products to determine optimum efficiencies and conditions by communicating verbally with employees at shift change and throughout the shift as well as via the dryer log
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and HAACP Programs to ensure food safety
  • Communicate with and assist others (packaging, mixer, etc.) by giving breaks, checking silos, etc. to promote teamwork and make things run smoother and more efficiently
  • Follow all safety rules and programs to prevent injury to self and others
  • Deliver product to warehouse as necessary to promote efficient workflow
  • Take initiative to continually participate and seek improvements for the success of Balchem and our customers
  • Other duties may be assigned



REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school education; 6 months of industrial experience
  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully
  • Ability to respond to requests for service and assistance
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification

WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Plant/manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to hazardous conditions at times
  • Frequent exposure to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
