Social Drivers of Health Senior Strategist, Hybrid

Support the SDOH (Social Drivers of Health) Strategy Lead in advancing strategies and programs to close the gap in life expectancy and wellness for underserved communities. Develop investment, partnership, advocacy and other engagement programs in support of Advocate Health's goal to strengthen community conditions on non-clinical SDOH issues, with a special emphasis on housing, food, and employment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish an inventory and accessible database of existing Advocate Health efforts to address the non-clinical drivers of health, focusing on existing proven and promising practices to expand affordable housing and reduce homelessness, improve access to nutritious and affordable food, and provide employment and career advancement opportunities in Advocate Health communities.
  • Coordinate Advocate National Center for Health Equity's (ANCHE) social driver priorities with existing research centers and institutes across Atrium Health, including Wake Forest Baptist's Maya Angelou Center, the Health Equity Innovation Challenge (sponsored by Atrium Health - Cabarrus), the emerging Center for Health Systems Science partnership between Atrium Health CMC and Wake Forest Baptist, and other related efforts across Advocate Health's enterprise.
  • Provide content expertise and thought leadership on best practices in addressing social drivers of health, with special focus on health system efforts to improve employment opportunities and enhance access to food and housing for underserved populations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact to coordinate ANCHE's Social Driver strategy and related programs with essential leaders and departments across Advocate, including Government Relations (social policy advocacy), Community Health, Community Engagement, and others.
  • Assure the successful implementation of internal Advocate Health social driver programs, including affordable housing for teammates, the Eat Well food incentive program pilot program, and other core social impact programs where Advocate Health is a lead partner.

License/Registration/Certification: N/A

Level of Education: Bachelors degree in public health, epidemiology, social work, or related field in social or behavioral sciences providing engagement with the social drivers of health.

Years of Experience: five years of experience addressing and improving the social drivers of health

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Proficient analytical and writing skills
  • Knowledge of current best practices in large health systems impacting non-clinical social drivers of health
  • Competitive candidates will possess an appreciation and understanding of the literature related to the social drivers of health, especially the impact of housing, food, and employment on overall health and well-being.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • This position will function virtually, requiring ability to work from a non-Advocate Health location.
