Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) delivers a suite of payments services to financial institutions via FedLine Solutions, Fedwire, National Settlement Service (NSS), FedCash, FedACH, and Check Services. We are currently leading a strategic effort to transform FRFS to a national, enterprise-focused organization. Over time, FRFS will offer an increasingly integrated set of Federal Reserve payment services, incorporating the FedNowSM Service upon its market entry in 2023. The FRFS Technology Automation Engineer performs a critical role in ensuring stable technical operations of Production and Customer Test environments for FRFS Payment Products. This position is responsible for active technical monitoring, respond to technical incidents, resolve technical incidents, maintain knowledgebase, fulfill Service requests from FRFS stakeholders within and outside of FRFS such as BizOps, Interfacing Business lines, timely escalation of customer impacting or business service impacting incidents to management. Role is expected to demonstrate Technical Operations skills with heavy emphasis in identifying process standardization and automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency by leveraging operational metrics. Individual must be able to collaboratively work with individuals and teams across FRFS Business Lines, Reserve Banks, and National IT to achieve successful business objectives. In addition, occasionally individual may be required to support different shift.

If the candidate is not a current Federal Reserve Bank System employee, this position will be based out of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Minneapolis, or Atlanta and the employee will be required to fulfill the on-site hybrid requirement.

3rd Shift days and Hours:
Wednesday - Sunday 12am to 8:30am eastern

Key Activities:

  • Under general direction, proactively monitors complex Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) applications in production and customer test environment. Performs necessary tasks to ensure continuous processing according to published business documentation and standards.

  • Opens and reviews incidents in the incident tracking system to ensure documentation is accurate and complete in accordance with incident management best practices.

  • Develop deep technical expertise on the FRFS Products platform and how it operates in Production.

  • Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise in production, solve issues, with intent to no service impact.

  • Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing with the intent to identify and proactively solve issues before launch.

  • Implement, configure, and operate tools and products in the DevOps and DevSecOps Toolchain while leveraging DevOps/DevSecOps team best practices.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on continuous improvement of production operations.

  • Provide technical functional expertise to Engineering teams and develop automation software for back-end systems.

  • Build and maintain tools, services, and automations associated with our operations platform ensuring that all meet our customer service standards and reduce errors.

  • Update team processes and design new processes as needed.

  • Add, update knowledgebase to help ensure quick issue resolution.

  • Automate team operational processes as needed, with accuracy, and compliant with security standards.

  • Support, drive and operate automation in product build and deployment.

  • Work with open-source technologies as needed.

  • Work with GitLab CICD pipelines with AWS.

  • Work with CI and CD tools, and source control such as GIT and SVN.

  • Research new automation capabilities and solutions to identify areas for improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree

  • Typically requires 0 years of experience. 2+ years of experience is preferred

  • Experience within 24*7 support operations for a large enterprise.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to quickly gather, analyze and synthesize information.

  • Initiative and innovation toward improving technical operations.

  • Ability to work in a demanding environment and handle multiple competing priorities.

  • Ability to work in an office environment and/or remotely as applicable

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. These additional screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take up to a couple of months to be completed. You can begin work before the screening is completed; however, continued employment is contingent on acceptable screening results.
