Job Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a strategic and proactive Director of Infrastructure. The Director of Infrastructure provides leadership, technical expertise, and strategic direction for the organization's technical infrastructure teams: Networking, Database, Telecommunications, and Cloud Services/Systems. This position is responsible for evaluating current and future enterprise infrastructure needs as well as managing the related staff and budget. The infrastructure director should have knowledge of current technology best practices as well as innovative ways to meet organizational goals while maintaining focus on secure implementations.

Essential Functions

20% - Provides IT leadership, goal-setting, planning, direction, and overall operational oversight for selection, implementation, and maintenance of all infrastructure-related projects and initiatives, assuring the quality of services, secure implementations, and develops departmental metrics and analysis; ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing IT Services by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards and procedures

20% - Provides Information Technology leadership and operational direction for IT Managers, System Engineers/Administrators, and assigned staff; plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff

20% - Directs planning and collaboration with customers and peers to assess needs; develops, refines, and/or implements advanced technology solutions to meet business needs; provides overall IT leadership and guidance and serves as college and districtwide subject matter expert on various technologies

20% - Directs and administers budgets and expenditures; identifies and allocates resource needs for Infrastructure related IT projects and services

15% - Works closely with vendors to develop relationships and partnerships; procures technology and services; performs cost/benefit analysis during the procurement process

5% - Performs other related duties as assigne

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any degree and six (6) years of professional experience in an Infrastructure role, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

OR

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any degree and eight (8) years of professional experience in an Infrastructure role, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

OR

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and ten (10) years of professional experience in an Infrastructure role, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience managing an Information Technology Service department, preferably in a higher education environment
B. Experience leading a team in an environment with high-availability infrastructure; examples may include servers, storage, databases, disaster recovery, virtualization, data center, operations monitoring, network communications and/or managed/cloud services
C. Hands-on experience in systems engineering (VMWare, Windows Server, Linux Server, Azure, AWS), networking (Cisco experience preferred), and/or network security
D. Experience managing large, complex technology projects
E. Current, industry certification in technology-related fields (e.g. ITIL, Security, CISCO, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, Linux)
F. Experience analyzing and overseeing the analysis of SLAs (Service Level Agreements)

Special Working Conditions

The position is located in Tempe, AZ, with occasional in-person meetings.
MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.
May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor
