Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Allergy/Immunology (MD) ranging from $280,111-$310,281. The posted UC salary scales [https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/oct-2022-salary-scales/t5-summary.pdf] set the base pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan [https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf], which provides for eligibility for additional compensation."

Position description

The University of California, Irvine (UCI), in partnership with Grant Cooper, announces a national search for the Chief of the Division of Basic and Clinical Immunology. The academic appointment may be at Full Professor Rank in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical , Clinical X series or In Resident Series, depending on experience and extent of research effort. HS, In Resident and Clinical X faculty provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities, but Clinical X and In Resident faculties are expected to conduct more substantial research. An academic appointment in the Clinical X and In Resident series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate.

Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent

will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide

patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students;

and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching

is an essential criteria for appointment in this series.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The

incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and

medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly

activities; and provide public and University service.

Criteria for the Professor-in-Residence Series:

The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial and meaningful research; teach students; direct patient care; and perform public and University service. Engage in a program of scholarly activity, including pursuit of intramural and extramural funding sources to support original research in the field of Immunology.

The Division of Basic and Clinical Immunology has a long and renowned history of discoveries and seminal contributions to the field of Immunology.

The division's faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized scientists who are advancing basic, clinical, and translational research in areas such as the effects of environmental toxins on the immune system, developing vaccines to protect against potential terrorist attacks, and investigating rare immunodeficiency diseases. It is the mission of the Division of Basic and Clinical Immunology to train the best scientists and clinicians, to recruit and train outstanding faculty, and to provide the highest-quality care for our patients.

The ideal candidate will be an extramurally funded clinician-scientist with a distinguished record of scholarly activity. Further, the ideal candidate be an involved educator and mentor, and one who can develop robust clinical practices. The Chief of Basic and Clinical Immunology reports to the Chair of Medicine at the School of Medicine and will oversee the management of the Division with direct oversight of faculty and staff.

The Division Chief is responsible for the effective management of all administrative and operational processes of the division in support of its research, educational, and clinical missions.


Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

An MD, MD/PhD degree (or equivalent).

Fellowship training in immunology and board certification by the ABAI.

Be eligible for, or currently hold, a medical license in the state of California.

Strong record of scholarly activity, evidenced by high quality peer reviewed publications and a record of research and research support.
