Position Title: 2024 Development Intern-Summer

Position Type: Paid Intern

Crystal Bridges is a museum of American art located in Bentonville, Arkansas. We explore the unfolding story of America by actively collecting, exhibiting, interpreting, and preserving outstanding works that illuminate the American heritage and artistic possibilities.

As an intern at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, you will be empowered to think creatively, ask questions, and make suggestions to help move the institution forward.

Position Summary:

The Crystal Bridges Development Internship is an outstanding opportunity for a student or recent graduate looking to round out his or her portfolio and resume with real-world application of fundraising and donor relations. The Development Intern will learn how an fundraising department supports the goals and objectives of Crystal Bridges and the Momentary through research and prospect management, donor communications, fundraising strategies, and cultivation events.

The Development Intern will gain an understanding of how varied fundraising strategies support the museum's ability to generate annual gifts, major gifts, and legacy gifts to sustain the institution's mission of presenting art, nature, and architecture programming, exhibitions, and experiences that are accessible to all.

Sample hands-on tactics will include coordinating fundraising operations activity such as prospect research, proposal and presentation development, impact reports and case statements, newsletters, and stewardship communication as well as cultivation tactics through guided tours

  • Administrative assistance on organizing reports and evaluation data.
  • The intern will assist with organizing kits from assembly, ordering supplies and contacting community partners to arrange delivery to the organization's location.

The intern is part of the Community Engagement department and team which may require additional program assistance across the four pillars as needed as well as participation in team meetings and ideation sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed fundamental or advanced coursework in marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, English, or related program at the college level.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT, and Teams.
  • Proficient in Canva preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and apply fundraising CRM preferred such as Salesforce, Tessitura, Advance, or Donor Perfect.
  • Interest in working in a non-profit setting
  • Willingness to Learn
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • A background check is required
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all information

Schedule:

  • Month: June 3rd through July 26th
  • Weeks: 8 weeks
  • Hours: 40 hours a week
  • Weekly schedule to be arranged with direct supervisor

Timeline:

  • Anticipated Start Date: June 3rd

Compensation

  • Undergraduate Intern: $13.00 an hour
  • Graduate Intern: $14.00 an hour

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Physical demands: In the work environment described below, position requires work at a desk, utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least three feet for file and materials storage as appropriate for the demands of the office. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.
  • Work environment: Work will be performed in an office environment and museum spaces. The noise level in the museum work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • If the intern's personal equipment is used, the museum accepts no liability for any damage caused to said equipment while being used for museum purposes, nor loss or corruption of electronic files on devices.
