ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Business Development is responsible assisting the Director with the implementation of the comprehensive community relation's program/marketing plan. This position will coordinate and facilitate the referral development/sales process, obtain new business, and retain current business. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate marketing information and account management information. Other responsibilities include Managing special events on and off campus which promote Hartgrove Behavioral Health System and Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital as a progressive behavioral health system with commitment to the community; writing and editing internal and external communications; managing community outreach activities and exhibits; writing and maintaining material for the Hospital's website.


Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Nursing, or related field required, Master's Degree in related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in a marketing position, of which at least 4 years should be in a healthcare setting.
  • Three years in a supervisory position.
  • Previous marketing experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Promotes and motivates sales/marketing and other key staff in referral and admission development.
  • Creates/coordinates all marketing campaigns and new program/service marketing.
  • Tracks acute care hospital referrals and trends for growth opportunities.
  • Proficient in leveraging social media and other forms of emerging new media as vehicles to augment referral base and patient population through innovative digital engagement.
  • Creates synergy related to the hospital's media, public relations and community outreach efforts.
  • Helps recruit and train admissions staff when needed for open positions.
  • Provides guidance, training and support to key internal stakeholders and CEO on marketing/business development activities.
  • Ensures proper administration of policies and procedures utilized in providing a central intake and admissions process for the hospital.
  • Collaborates in the establishment of admissions goals for the hospital, monitors on a daily basis, and intervenes when necessary to overcome shortfalls.
  • Serves as trouble-shooter for census-challenged hospital and implements strategies for improvement.
  • Develops measurable performance standards for hospital business development marketing team.
  • High level of analytical ability to establish goals and objectives to support success.
  • Interpersonal skills to objectively handle conflict management.
  • Ability to identify, define and apply metrics for a measurement of success.
  • Action oriented individual with ability to: identify opportunity; adapt to change; works independently; and prioritize tasks / responsibilities.

  • Intellectual ability to handle concepts and complexity comfortably.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance requirements and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of technology such as word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Communicates hospitals' mission, strategies, values, philosophy, expectations and culture.
  • Performs other administrative functions or additional duties at the request of the CEO.
