Description

Verifying patients have a valid insurance, confirming authorizations are done or needed prior to patients scheduled procedure, coordinating with schedulers and physician offices correct procedure codes, verifying patient information to ensure that bill go out correctly. Scanning, emailing, faxing, and communicating with insurance companies to validate in and out of network benefits. Providing patient estimates and setting up payments plans. Communicating with centers for noncovered and out of network services.



SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Insurance Verifier's primary function is to collect and verify Insurance information from patients and maintain updated accurate information in the patient's chart. The Insurance Verifier's will also be responsible for answering patient questions regarding benefits.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Verify and update Patient's primary, secondary and tertiary Insurance benefit information.
  2. Advising Patients when Insurance has expired and obtaining new Insurance updates.
  3. Answer voicemails and respond within 24 hours.
  4. Serve as a source of information and communication link for patients, Physicians, and facility personnel.
  5. Scan and upload Insurance cards in to EMR.
  6. Report and discuss any Insurance discrepancies with facility personnel.
  7. Perform clerical functions as directed by the Supervisor.
  8. Participate in pertinent educational offerings, training and staff meetings.
  9. Maintain confidentiality, security, and physical safety of medical records.
  10. Call and follow up on outstanding claim status.
  11. Collect and post Patient Payments.
  12. Assist with obtaining Authorizations or Letter of Agreements.



QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Diploma
  2. Must be able to communicate in the English language, both written and orally.
  3. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  4. Computer and typing skills of at least 40 wpm with the capability of data entry.
  5. Must be able to conduct oneself in a mature, professional, and pleasant manner.
  6. Ability to multitask in time compromising environment.

Experience
2 years: Medical office or insurance experience (preferred)
