Summary of Role Provides strategic leadership and operational direction for the research and pharmaceutical development functional organizations consistent with mission and goals to achieve short- and long-range corporate initiatives; Primary responsibilities will include providing strategic, operational and research leadership to drive the discovery, pharmaceutical development, and commercialization of the pipeline of innovative medical imaging and therapeutic agents and support approved agents. Essential Functions
- Provide leadership to the Research and Pharmaceutical Development organization and the Company to drive the development and NDA submission of pipeline products consistent with Lantheus mission and goals, and aligned to achieve long range company initiatives.
- Oversee the identification and development of novel radiopharmaceutical agents. Direct the function by driving performance to meet financial objectives and operational timelines. Employ thorough knowledge spanning the discovery/development/commercialization continuum to contribute to overall business objectives.
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the Research and Pharmaceutical Development function.
- Utilize technical and strategic knowledge regarding the dynamic progression of product development and exercise sound judgment to guide tactics, priorities, and resource allocation.
- Regularly communicate strategic and technical information that may affect major segments and/or functional activities. Communicate internally with executives and team members as well as externally with key decision makers and influencers of the business.
- Communicate effectively as an official Lantheus spokesperson in a variety of settings (e.g. professional societies, regulatory bodies).
- Champion processes and procedures to facilitate achievement of development goals and take corrective action as necessary along the way.
- Maintain current knowledge of broad scientific advances related to full range of radiopharmaceutical agent discovery and development including competitive, scientific and regulatory trends. Anticipate future scenarios that potentially impact the business and consult with management based on these assessments.
- Attract, retain and develop key talent necessary for pharmaceutical success. Effectively build organizational capacity as necessary.
- Oversee the full range of performance management processes of functional team. Lead and motivate employees and provide feedback, coaching, and counseling to enhance or improve performance by setting clear expectations and holding individuals accountable for performance and behavior.
- Ensure an environment that promotes and rewards the growth and development of workgroups and teams, encourages collaboration, scientific debate, and provides empowerment. Drive the creation of entrepreneurial ideas and processes and encourage others to try new approaches and take risks.
- Advise Business Development, review and provide recommendations on potential in-licensing candidates.

Typical Minimum Skills and Experience and Education
- Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science and 15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in roles of increasing responsibility, or equivalent in Chemistry or Biological science with drug or radiopharmaceutical agent development.
- Strong track record of effective leadership, both direct line and in a matrix setting. Ability to lead by example, promoting continuous improvement through proactive mentorship and training.
- Must have prior experience and skills with managing discovery research, pharmaceutical development, clinical study drug supply and supporting IND submissions, patent filings and Journal article publications.
- Skilled communicator with proven ability to drive consensus and foster collaboration, internally and externally, including with key stakeholders, KOLs and the pharmaceutical community.
- Demonstrated track record in effectively performing department management activities, including resource management/staffing, performance management, staff training and development, and specified fiscal responsibilities.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and excellent communication and interpersonal skills including situations of conflict resolution, problem-solving, and crisis management.
- Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical compliance regulations.
- Understanding of the external scientific and medical environment and an appreciation of their impact on our business.
Other Requirements
- Routine overnight travel based on business need.
- Handling of and, or exposure to potentially hazardous chemical, radiological and or biological materials. Required to follow all safety procedures and use personal and protective equipment provided.
