Responsibilities

Summary: Oversee and improve production processes in the manufacturing facilities. Engineering aptitude, a high attention to detail, and the ability to optimize production processes for maximum efficiency are necessary skills. Oversees the work of vendors and contractors in the completion of work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned. This position is a full-time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position.

    Lead root cause analysis of quality and production issues.
  • Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.
  • Lead development of corrective actions and validate results.
  • Increase production efficiency by working with the production team to identify and eliminate waste in the process.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Improves work methods and procedures to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Troubleshoots and works with Maintenance to resolve problems.
  • Works within budget constraints.
  • Observes all Company, housekeeping, safety and plant policies and procedures.
  • Has strong written, oral, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Fosters a focus of continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees the work of employees in the absence of the supervisor or department head ensuring employees work together as a team and follow protocols and meet production deadlines, leading vendors, and contractors in the completion of work including but not limited to costs, schedule, completeness and quality of work, safety, and environmental factors. Providing proper training to ensure safety and quality assurance protocols.



Qualifications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology required, plus 3 years' related engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing setting; OR an equivalent combination of related post graduate education and/or experience. Must be mechanically inclined and process minded.

Computer Skills: Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office programs and applications for word processing, email, database management, spreadsheets, and AutoCAD software.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents, and other documents such as Company policies, procedures, and manuals. Ability to prepare business correspondence, detailed reports, work instructions, operating procedures, and processes. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, apply common sense, and solve practical problems. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Supervisory Skills: Ability to work with a diverse group of people and encourage and motivate people to take ownership and pride in their work.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must be mechanically inclined; and have good mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic system design and troubleshooting skills. Must be proficient with AutoCAD and Inventor.
