Senior Director Human Resources, Biopharma Production

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Sr. HR Director to support our Bioscience Production Segment including 11 U.S. based manufacturing sites and 1,200 associates.

As a valued member of the Biopharma Production team, the Sr. HR Director partners with leaders to drive operational and resource planning for optimizing organizational effectiveness and performance. This HR Business Partner consults and guides leaders regarding market conditions, talent development, assessments and workforce planning, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and policies & programs.

To be successful, the Sr. HR Director must be able to drive culture and behavior change, collaborate and influence a diverse group of clients, fully understand the business needs, drivers, strategies, goals, and expectations and adeptly work with partners to deliver on goals and outcomes.

This role will be a full-time, remote position with travel as needed to manufacturing sites and our corporate headquarters in Radnor, PA.

What we're looking for

  • Education: BA/BS degree required; MA/MS degree preferred.

  • Experience: 16+ years of experience in Human Resources as a partner to the business and experience in Organization Development and Talent Management; 8+ years' experience building, leading and developing a direct team and indirect team

  • Experience in manufacturing operations, supporting production associates to Senior Leaders.

  • Expert understanding of and significant expertise with organizational effectiveness, management development, employee relations, data and analytics and diversity and inclusion

  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing change management strategies and plans.

  • Demonstrated success in leading mergers/ acquisitions including data room review, risk identification and mitigation, employee program, policies, and benefits harmonization, and on-boarding.

  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills to collaborate, build rapport and trusting relationship across a global organization

  • Results-oriented, and with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated project management and facilitation skills in an environment with multiple and competing priorities and deadlines.

  • A high degree of personal integrity, ethics, and emotional intelligence. Ability to influence across functions and levels of authority and be seen as a trusted and valued advisor.

  • Versatility in using human capital analytics and ability to navigate multiple data sources and metrics to create and drive aligned business solutions

  • Outstanding writing, speaking, and presentation skills with superior judgement, conflict resolution, negotiating and creative thinking skills to solve complicated people and organizational issues.

  • High business acumen and deep industry knowledge.

  • Highly skilled at building strong, credible partnerships with leaders, managers HR colleagues and employees across the organization.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills, and attention to detail.

  • Able to work independently, take initiative, maintain relationships and be able to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels within the organization.

  • Capable of leading and managing across a wide variety of business areas and with different leadership styles.

  • Extensive experience leading a team of HRBPs

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

  • Strong problem solving/decision-making skill and sound judgment.

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Ensure the delivery of HR programs and services including talent/career development, leader/manager coaching and consultation, talent acquisition of key positions, compensation processes, performance management and employee relations.

  • Provide perspective, guidance, and coaching to organizational leaders regarding business challenges and opportunities, enhancing leadership capabilities, driving engagement & retention, increasing effectiveness, and optimizing organizational performance

  • Utilize data analytics and metrics to identify trends and market conditions to define, build and implement value-added HR strategies and solutions.

  • Lead Strategic Workforce Planning that includes identifying people and organizational implications of the business strategy, identifying key talent and driving accelerated development and succession plans.

  • Ensure organizational effectiveness through proper alignment of people, processes, structure, and culture with business strategies.

  • Counsel and coach managers regarding performance management and effective leadership coaching.

  • Serve as a role model and key shaper of a culture of innovation, curiosity, experimentation, challenging the status quo.

  • Drive and support an open and inclusive culture that embraces individual difference

  • Collaborates with Leaders and other stakeholders to develop the transformation strategies and tactics, to facilitate organizational success in complex business situations such as organization change, mergers and acquisitions

  • Functions as a strategic partner with client group business leaders in root cause analysis, planning and implementation of pragmatic changes in organizational structure, culture, or processes to support rapid growth within the organization.

  • Partners with VP HR to lead acquisitions from due diligence to integration.

  • Works with managers and employees to address all types of employee relations issues. Optimizes managers' leadership and coaching capabilities by becoming a trusted advisor.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff to achieve their fullest potential.
