Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner is part of a small team initiating outpatient practice and infusion services in our Berkeley, CA cancer services center. The NP provides direct patient care as well as clinical support to infusion patients and nursing teams.

Department Description

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center we are truly pioneering care and leaders in all areas of cancer clinical care and research. Required Qualifications

• Minimum two (2)+ years of recent NP experience in adult oncology and 1 year experience managing infusion treatment orders.
• Triage skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Skill to perform complex physical assessment
• Problem solving ability.
• Ability to work well with all healthcare providers.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined.
• Problem solving ability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in clinical database entry.

License/Certification

• California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
• Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
  • Accepted Certifications for this position: AGNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, AGACNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, ACNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC Link to UCSF NP Certification Table for reference:
• Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
• Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
• Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
• Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
• Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.
• State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
• Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
