Department Information
The School of Physics at Georgia Tech currently has 63 academic (Tenure Track and Non Tenure Track) and research faculty, and its graduate program is ranked 21st in the nation by US News and World Report. The School has a broad research program with strengths in astrophysics, condensed matter, atomic, molecular and optical physics, physics of living systems, nonlinear science and soft matter physics. The School is also a key player in interdisciplinary initiatives established within Georgia Tech, such as quantum systems, neuroscience, microbial dynamics, planetary sciences, and data science/machine learning. Its diverse student body comprises more than 130 graduate students and 275 undergraduate majors

Job Summary

Provide basic technical support services required for conducting tests and experiments in a school or research laboratory within the Institute. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: academic and research faculty, co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Gather, compile and summarize data in conjunction with assigned scientific tests, experiments, etc

Job Duty 2 -
Collect and prepare samples for use in assigned tests

Job Duty 3 -
Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related records.

Job Duty 4 -
Operate various equipment used in research studies.

Job Duty 5 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
One to two years of job related experience

SKILLS
This job requires basic knowledge of research lab equipment and support processes and practices. Includes skill in data organization, statistical analysis and use of statistical and scientific computer applications.

Salary range: $16.11 / hourly

Other Information

The Research Technician I - Limited Term, will be an active an important member of the Agile System Lab under the direction of Prof. Simon Sponberg.

The RTI -LT will conduct eletrophysiologial, biomechanical, and behavioral experiments in the Agile Systems Lab using invertebrates.

The Tech will collect and analyze experimental data in these contexts. The Research Technician will assist in invertebrate animal handling and maintenance of the experiment rig room, equipment, and computer code for multi-university research team by providing logistic and developmental support. The RT I - LT will help the PI facilitate a multi-university research by providing logistics and developmental support.

Start date is as early as May 15, 2024. The position is sponsor funded and it is renewable for at least two years.
