Introduction

MWRD's Internship Program offers paid internship positions. While the main focus is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department.

Paid Interns

Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $18.00 per hour.

Required Documents:



  • Letter of recommendation from a class instructor, professor, or Internship Coordinator from current school or university.
  • Cover letter stating interest in position.
  • Resume.


Eligibility Requirements



  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in an accredited college or university and will be enrolled in the 2024/2025 school year.
  • You must be a citizen or national of the United States, or an individual who is otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States.

Description:

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is seeking an intern in the Monitoring and Research Department.The intern will work with District staff, primarily on biosolids and Nutrient Loss Reduction Research at the District's Fulton County site. The intern will be involved in field sampling and measurements at the varying research studies, including biosolids and struvite fertilizer studies, cover crops, bioreactors, and drainage water studies. The intern will learn research operations in the field and obtain skills regarding the use and maintenance of sampling equipment.

Other duties will include entering data in spreadsheets and generating a report, which the intern will present to District staff after the internship. This will help the intern gain computer, data processing, and technical writing skills.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:



  • General computer skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good written communication skills


Educational Requirements:



  • Currently enrolled in a degree seeking program majoring in Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Agricultural Business.
  • Has successfully complete one year of college courses.
