Principal Product Manager, Home Theater Platform

This role is a hybrid position

Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston, Santa Barbara, or Seattle office locations. This role is open to relocation. If you will be relocating for this position, some relocation assistance may be provided.

The Principal Platform Product Manager will drive the definition and evolution of our home theater platform. You will work closely with hardware, consumer applications, and media partner teams amongst others to identify and develop the features, capabilities, and technologies for a sustainable scalable platform for Sonos products and content partners.

What You'll Do

  • Define and drive delivery of the Sonos home theater platform

  • Use consumer and market insights and data to create platform strategy and features that drive engagement and revenue

  • Develop and evolve an OS & Media Platform roadmap that aligns customer needs, business priorities, technical feasibility, and design direction

  • Clearly communicate the vision, goals, and key elements of new products and features through product requirements

  • Deliver products and features that optimize for customer experience while making smart compromises

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Platform or OS product management

  • Proven track record of leading teams to ship products and experiences of the highest quality within timing and technical constraints

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions in a distributed team

  • Proven ability to evaluate technologies, articulate customer needs, test, learn, and make clear, concise recommendations

  • Experience working with modern operating systems and adjacent technologies (e.g. Yocto, Linux, Android/Android TV, etc...)

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills for diverse audiences from engineering to executive leadership

  • Qualified applicants must be able to work from an office location for part of the work week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Home Theater technologies and protocols (e.g. HDMI, CEC, eARC, A/V codecs & DRM, etc...)

  • Experience in home theater or home entertainment domain

  • Hands-on experience in consumer electronics at the intersection of hardware, software, and media

  • Comfort with ambiguity as the role will evolve alongside the strategy and product

At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:

$172,000 and $191,400

Please note that compensation details listed in US job postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
