The Office of Information Technology at the Dell Medical School is looking for an Application Analyst- Epic Op Time/ Anesthesia.

Not a limited term position.

Purpose

The Epic Application Analyst will serve as the subject matter expert and technical contact for their focus application areas. In addition, they are responsible for taking the lead in primary areas of work, including Projects, Changes, and the highest point of Break/Fix escalation. They demonstrate full use and application of standard principles, theories, and concepts related to technical discipline, and provide solutions to a variety of complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, build, configuration, testing, and maintenance of clinical information systems with a focus in surgical operations and anesthesia care. Serve as a liaison between business operations and providers, internal information technology, system users and vendors working within the defined project objectives for issue and problem resolution.

  • Provide support to end-users both remotely and in-person. Monitors, investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves incoming tickets. Coordinate system fixes and changes with software vendors. Coordinate the deployment of application changes with the training team and operations.

  • Create test scripts, timelines, and plans for application and workflow changes. Perform actual testing of clinical information system configuration and processes, including testing across applications and/or the testing of the application configuration of other analysts. Coordinate and participate in requestor and user testing of application changes.

  • Collaborate with technical colleagues to help identify any infrastructure related issues that have resulted in clinical application issues.

  • Demonstrate increasing technical knowledge of the assigned application including relationships of infrastructure and impact to user if unavailable.

  • Provide on-going end user clinical information systems support with all upgrades, new releases, enhanced functionality, and requested change and problem management support following the outlined ITIL processes.

  • Responsible for other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a health, science, or business field, or in lieu of a degree, four (4) years of related professional experience supporting clinical, ancillary, or business environments will be considered. Two years of Epic experience. Strong knowledge of clinical information systems, clinical informatics, data management and administration. Experience of proven success in information systems implementation, development and support within a large-scale healthcare organization required. Active Epic Certification or Accreditation (considered) in relevant Core application required. Must have demonstrated experience working with clinicians in a support and/or educational role. Able to exercise problem-solving skills, good judgment based on guiding principles, and organizational policies/practices. Excellent verbal and written skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Must maintain current certification for primary EHR module(s) as a condition of employment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred 5-7 years previous clinical information systems experience or equivalent. Demonstrated experience as a major participant in an EHR configuration. Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, and performance. ITIL Foundation certification is preferred. Active Epic Certification, Accreditation, or Proficiency in related applications is preferred.

Salary Range

$75,000 + depending on qualifications
