Description

Avivo's Chemical and Mental Health Division provides a continuum of integrated services, including access, clinical treatment, care coordination and recovery support. We provide services that are innovative, person centered, strength based, and outcome driven. We strive for the highest quality of services using culturally responsive and evidence-based practices in a trauma informed environment.

Each intern will be assigned to a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor who will provide consultation, guidance, and supervision throughout the internship assignment. The assigned program will be in Avivo's Family Residential Treatment, Family Treatment, and/or an Intensive Outpatient program. Clients are with us up to 3 months then drop to low intensity phase for an additional 3 months. Clients can live in our Recovery Housing during that whole time, up to six months or more. Family Residential serves pregnant women and women with children. Total programming offers 30 hours of group per week and individual work. Ideal for interns who have a strong desire to work with mothers and children.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES




  • LADC students will receive required experience in the 12 core functions, including: counseling, case management, assessment, crisis intervention, documentation, and group facilitation.
  • Work closely with assigned Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor who will provide consultation, guidance, and supervision throughout the internship.
  • Gain experience working with a co-occurring population.
  • Manage a case load of 12-14 clients in outpatient and 4-8 clients in family residential.
  • Responsible for all relevant documentation from treatment plan to discharge summary.
  • Facilitate up to 8 hours group work, includes large education groups (16+) and small process groups.


Qualifications

Education and Experience




  • Must be currently enrolled in final stages of an accredited Addictions Studies program and working towards LADC Licensure.
  • Must be able to clear a DHS Background study and have at least 2 years freedom from problematic chemical use.

  • Competency in MS Office Suites, e-mail, and Internet.
  • Self-motivated, show initiative, and able to work independently
